Wäsche Plus
collective fashion collection · you can sit with us collective · Burg Giebichenstein Halle 2022/23
The Team realizing the Project Wäsche+ consists of Loris Stephan, Paula Rieß, and Zoé Philine Leduey. The team engages in the design and realization of projects that focus on the concept of laundry. The "+" in the name signifies a broad interpretation of the term; the department draws inspiration from everything laundry has been, is, and could be, such as petticoats or long-sleeve shirts. The resulting laundry pieces are not intended as practical underwear, but rather as experimental and applied garments meant to be seen, leaning more towards lingerie than simple underwear.
First, the team conducts a review of the context of laundry, focusing primarily on its sexist, sexualizing, and gender-binary-reinforcing aspects throughout history. Then, it explores and practices the deconstruction, destabilization, and dissolution of these aspects. In the third step, the pieces are reassembled and repaired, which includes looking toward the future and addressing the generational and personal question: "How do we deal with this?"
